About This Safety Guide

## What this guide is **TikYouTok** is an independent safety guide about TikTok mod APKs — the modified, unofficial versions of the TikTok app that circulate on third-party download sites, especially around trending features like the new profile banner. We explain what these mods are, what they actually do to your phone and your account, how to recognize the scam patterns around them, and what to do if you've already installed one. Everything here is written in plain language, from publicly known security research and TikTok's own published policies. ## What this guide is not - We do **not** offer mod APK downloads, and never will. Our [download page](/download) points only to the official TikTok app. - We are **not** affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to TikTok or ByteDance in any way. - The name "TikYouTok" is just this guide's name. As far as we can verify, it does not refer to any real app — and if you see an app or download page using a similar name, treat it with the same caution described in our [red-flags checklist](/posts/fake-tiktok-download-red-flags). ## Why we wrote it Every few months, a trending TikTok feature triggers a wave of "modded APK" scams — and each wave catches a new group of people who simply didn't know the risks. The profile banner rollout is the current wave. We'd rather you learn the warning signs from a guide than from a drained bank account or a banned account. ## How to use this site Start with the [homepage](/), which summarizes every risk in one place.
